Does Therapy Work

Does therapy work? Short answer, absolutely. Therapy works.

If you are looking for:

  1. An outside perspective on your situation from an unbiased source.
  2. A professional who will guide you through a crisis you feel lost in.
  3. Someone who will not only respect and honor your goals and perspective, but actively work with you to reach those goals.
  4. Someone who is on your side and counts themselves as part of your support network.
  5. Honesty.
  6. A pathway to Live the Life YOU Want to Live.

This is where therapy tends to be most effective.

There are also things that therapy can’t do as well. If you are looking for:

  1. A quick fix.
  2. A yes person or an echo chamber of your own thoughts and opinions.
  3. A magic wand.

When you work with a mental health professional, how well therapy goes depends on what you are looking to get out of it and having reasonable expectations about what therapy can and can’t do.

Therapy is a process. Like anything meaningful, it takes honesty, consistency, and time.

At My Integrity Counseling, we provide a compassionate and professional space where our clients are seen and heard. Many of us on staff have been on both sides of the counseling relationship. We know how strange counseling can feel when you first start out and how many unknowns there are.

When you schedule an appointment with My Integrity Counseling, you can expect a personal and warm experience from the beginning. You will start with our virtual front desk, where a real person answers your call during office hours, and connect with our administrator Shiloh, who will talk with you about your goals for therapy, answer your questions about insurance and cash pay options, and get you scheduled with one of our excellent therapists, including Hannah, Rebekah, Shagufta,Emma, Stacey, or Phil. Your therapist will take the time in the first session to explain how therapy works and answer any questions you have.

Each therapist brings their own strengths, but all share the same commitment to clear, professional, and meaningful work.

At My Integrity Counseling, our entire team, from the virtual front desk, scheduling, billing and insurance, to your therapist, is here to walk alongside you throughout the whole process, answer your questions, and provide the most meaningful and beneficial therapeutic experience possible. Even if you don’t know where to start, our team will assist you in taking those first steps toward your goals.
